Filter Building Expansion
(concrete deck in a corrosive environment)

Highlights
When: 2004
Ambient environment: Chemicals used in filtering processed kaolin such as sulfuric acid
Original completion date: New building Contractor: Mills Industrial (Milledgeville, GA)
Concrete supplier: All-Star Concrete

Project Scope
Concrete had to meet a minimum of 4,000 psi.
This would act also as a test slab for KAOROCK versus a control mix of OPC .

Concrete Mix Design

Over time, the corrosive environment weakens the calcium silicate hydrate to expose the aggregate. This will lead to a rapid deterioration of the concrete slab or structure. To keep this from happening, KAOROCK can be added to the concrete mix.

Filter Building Challenges

Filter Building Results
Slab without KAOROCK
7-day: 2,900 psi 28-day: 4,100 psi

Slab with KAROCK
7-day: 5,641 psi 28-day: 6000+ psi
